First, the good news that many of you have already heard: The Arizona Marriage Amendment just got signed by the Senate and will be on the ballot in November. Most Arizonans believe in traditional marriage, but most of us are busy with our family and personal responsibilities and do not get involved in politics. But, now is the time to step up (even if it's a little step) and support the values we believe so strongly in. Here's what Mark and I are doing:
The deadline for submitting statements for the Publicity Pamphlet sent out by the Secretary of State is Friday, July 11th. We want to get as many people as we can to write, fund, and submit their own statement for the pamphlet. The idea is that the more people we can get in the pamphlet to talk about why they support the amendment and how they feel about protecting traditional marriage, it will reassure the public that there are a lot of regular people like me and you that are supporting this simply because it is the right thing to do.
Here's what you need to do:
*Come up with a short, concise statement for the amendment (less than 300 words)
*Come up with $75 to pay for the fee to the Secretary of State
*Print your statement on a sheet of paper and get it signed and notarized
*Make a copy of your statement to a CD
We will be happy to submit your money, paper statement, and CD to the Secretary of State for you. We will make a trip there on July 11th. We will also help you out with any part of this process that you need. Let us know if you need help with what to say in your statement, if you would like it proofread, if you need help finding a notary, etc.

Send the word out to anyone you know in Arizona that might be interested. It would be nice to get submissions from different cities and counties around the state if possible. The more people we can get on board the more powerful our efforts will be. Imagine flipping through the publicity pamphlet and seeing pages and pages of individuals who of their own accord wrote and funded separate statements about why they believe in protecting traditional marriage. And let me assure you, if you are interested in helping this cause, this is a way to really get a big bang for your buck--$75.00 will get your message to every registered voter in the state.

That is awesome you guys are so involded! I have always wondered how they got those statements on there. I really want to do this--Jack and I will try to come up with something tomorrow after FHE and I will let you know. However, I don't think I have your number, so maybe you could shoot me your email on my blog or something, then I can email you and get your number. Very fun posts by the way!
